Jamie O’Hara has praised Everton duo Anthony Gordon and Tom Davies for being a ‘plus point’ for Everton during their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Monday night, as he told Sky Sports News (06/07/20 at 9:55 pm).

It was a lacklustre display from Carlo Ancelotti’s men, who failed to lay a glove on a side who went into this game on the back of a poor performance and result.

Midfielder Davies started the game for the Toffees, whilst his fellow academy product, Gordon, replaced Alex Iwobi at half-time. Asked first about Gordon’s performance, this is what former Spurs man, O’Hara, had to say.

“He has been good, very good,” O’Hara told Sky Sports. “He has looked confident. He started out on the right. He got into good little pockets. Liked what he did when he got the ball.

“He then has gone into central midfield and he looked tidy. Looks very good on the ball. He has definitely been a plus point.

“Tom Davies in midfield [also] looked good. He came off in the end. Anthony Gordon came on [at half-time] and he definitely brightened up the game for Everton.”

The Everton fans will be arguing that Gordon deserves to start for the Toffees, especially ahead of someone like Iwobi whose big-money price tag hasn’t reflected on his performances for the club this season.

As he should against Spurs, when Gordon is given a chance, he looks lively, direct and is always trying to attack the final third.

Whilst Ancelotti may need to clear a lot of deadwood during the summer transfer window, Gordon is, without a doubt, a player for the future under the Italian.
