Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has further outlined his admiration for Dennis Cirkin, with his comments to Football London.
Mourinho has promoted Cirkin into Tottenham’s first-team squad since becoming manager, with the left-back now on the verge of being handed his first Premier League appearance.
Cirkin was favoured to make Spurs’s bench to summer signing Ryan Sessegnon last night, as Tottenham took on Everton.
And when asked about Sessegnon’s absence, Mourinho said: “No, not injured. Working with us for a couple of weeks but I thought you’d ask me why 18-year-old Dennis Cirkin is on the bench. I like him very, very much, he works really hard.
“We had him on the bench, Harvey White the other day and Oliver Skipp as well. It’s good for these young players.”
Cirkin has appeared on Tottenham’s bench a number of times now this term, with Mourinho clearly a fan of the teenager.
The left-back is regarded as one of Spurs’s better prospects, and has shown some impressive form at development squad level.
Cirkin is actually still waiting for his Tottenham debut, but he may be in with a chance of appearing before the end of the campaign, with Mourinho taking a shine to him.
Cirkin watched on from the bench last night, as Spurs beat Everton 1-0 to claim an important three points.
