The former Tottenham midfielder, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, made the comments ahead of the Premier League game between Spurs and Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening.
While praising midfielder Harry Winks, Redknapp said that France international Sissoko is not very good at protecting the back-four while being deployed as a defensive midfielder.
Redknapp said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:34pm, July 6, 2020): “Sissoko doesn’t do it for me. He doesn’t sense danger. He is not quick enough on the ball, and that’s why he [Jose Mourinho] has gone with Harry Winks.”
Against Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening, Sissoko played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 90%, took 49 touches, attempted one dribble, and made one tackle, one interception and one clearance, according to WhoScored.
So far this season, the 30-year-old France international midfielder has made 23 starts and one substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
