Season 2 of Hanna arrived on Amazon Prime Video on July 3rd but where was the new batch of episodes filmed and where is the real Meadows location?
There was a lot of scepticism surrounding Amazon Prime Video’s Hanna series when it was first announced.
The 2011 film it is based on didn’t exactly set the box office alight when it released.
However, the series itself has proven to be a solid addition to Amazon’s lineup and stands out as one of the streaming service’s signature shows.
Hanna season 1 released in February 2019 and took viewers on a globetrotting adventure and season 2, which finally arrived on July 3rd, does exactly the same.
But just where was season 2 of Hanna filmed?
Hanna season 2 on Amazon Prime Video
After Hanna season 1 captivated viewers last year, season 2 arrived on July 3rd, 2020.
The new eight-episode season continues from season 1’s dramatic cliffhanger and eventually sees Hanna return to Utrax’s super-soldier school.
However, turbulent times are ahead as new management, in the form of spymaster John Carmichael, is accelerating the Utrax programme’s plans.
Where was Hanna season 2 filmed?
After season 1 showed Hanna on quite a globetrotting adventure, season 2 narrows down its filming locations.
- Filming for Hanna season 2 took place throughout the UK, Northern France and Barcelona.
Season 2 offers up less of a worldwide adventure and instead hones in on the characters themselves as the majority of season 2 is set in and around the fictional Meadows boarding school, we’ll get onto that in a moment.
Meanwhile, other UK-based locations included the majestic forests of Snowdonia as well as Horsley in Gloucestershire.
However, while the UK takes centre stage in season 2, Hanna still gets to visit some fascinating locations.
Chief among them is Barcelona which makes an appearance in season 2 as well as Northern France, which actually doubled as Belgium in the series.
Filming spotlight: The Meadows
The Meadows is the principal location of Hanna season 2 as it serves as Utrax’s super-soldier finishing school.
The location that plays host to the fictional Meadows, which is supposedly located in the north of England, is actually the Bramshill Estate in Hampshire, near Reading.
The most prominent location at Bramshill Estate is, of course, Bramshill House which is one of the largest Jacobean prodigy houses in the UK.
Originally built in the early 17th century, Bramshill House has a storied history and in 1952 was designated as a Grade 1 listed building and became a police training facility a year later.
In 2014, the property was sold by the UK government and was put on the market again in 2018 for a reported value of around £10 million.
We’re not sure we’d want to live in the majestic, 15-bedroom stately home ourselves, however, as the location is supposedly haunted by as many as 14 ghosts and spooky spirits.
Hanna season 2, featuring Bramshill House as a filming location, is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video after releasing on July 3rd, 2020.
