Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has raved about Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy to Football.London.

Arteta has said that Vardy’s goal-record is stunning and has praised the Englishman’s consistency.

The 33-year-old took his Premier League goal tally to 101 when he scored twice against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The Englishman will be looking to add to that when he features for Brendan Rodgers’s side in the Premier League game against Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Interestingly, Vardy turned down a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2016, as the striker himself told The Telegraph in September 2017.

Arteta told Football.London about Vardy: “When I look at the games of Leicester, the energy he has is incredible.

“To do it in a consistent way, the way he has done it in the Premier League, credit to him and he’s doing so well.”

Stats

Vardy has scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 30 Premier League matches for Leicester so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the Englishman scored 18 goals and provided four assists in 34 league games for the Foxes, according to WhoScored.

Back in 2017-18, Vardy scored 20 goals and provided one assist in the league, while in 2016-17, he scored 13 goals and provided five assists and in 2015-16 he found the net 24 times and provided six assists in the league, according to WhoScored.
