According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla are keen on a move for reported Everton target Marcos Senesi as a replacement for Liverpool-linked Diego Carlos.
Feyenoord centre-back Senesi has been heavily linked with a move.
Everton must look at bolstering their defensive options with summer as both Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have struggled with consistency over the campaign.
The Mirror today (July 5, page 74) say Everton are keen on Senesi.
The Argentine defender has an Italian passport. It means a transfer to Goodison Park would be easy to facilitate with Feyenoord looking at an £18 million fee.
At 23, Senesi has plenty of potential and fits the Toffees’ recruitment policy.
Everton, however, have competition for his signature partly thanks to rivals Liverpool.
Estadio Deportivo claim today that Sevilla have identified Senesi as a potential replacement for Diego Carlos who has been attracting Europe’s leading clubs.
ABC Sevilla claimed in April how Liverpool want to sign Carlos with sporting director Monchi admitting how he has received calls for the centre-back.
Carlos, who has a £65 million release clause, has been superb for Sevilla this season. The 26-year-old has started 31 La Liga games and has averaged five clearances and an 83.9% pass-accuracy rate (Whoscored).
Liverpool may be looking at a long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk, with fellow defenders Joel Matip and Joe Gomez often struggling with niggling injuries.
If the Reds seal a deal for Carlos, it could pave the way for Sevilla to sign Senesi with the Argentine already warming to a move to Andalusia, Estadio Deportivo say.
