The fourth and final season of Attack on Titan is still a few months away, but the excitement is growing and growing for what’s in store.

When it comes to anime, there is probably no single show bigger than Attack on Titan (figuratively and literally).

The anime is loved by millions of people around the world and has become one of the most-watched ongoing series in the entire genre.

After the insane, adrenaline-pumping second part of season 3, fans have been patiently waiting for news on when the fourth instalment would premiere.

In May 2020, it was announced that the show would swap production to MAPPA and we really started to get the Attack on Titan season 4 hype train going.

Here is everything you need to know about when the fourth part of the AoT storyline will be released and what we can expect.

Attack on Titan season 4: Release date

At the time of writing, we don’t have an official release date for Attack on Titan season 4, but we do know that it should premiere in October 2020.

However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic halting the production of many anime (and the reputation AoT has for delaying release dates), it is possible that this will be pushed back.

“Even though the release has been set for the fall, due to this ongoing pandemic, the staffs are not available for the productions work. They have to work with the limited team which us slow down the action.” – The Nation Roar.

There have also been unconfirmed reports that it will be a two-cour split season of 10 and 12 episodes – similar to how season 3 was released.

What we do know is that the fourth season will be Attack on Titan’s last. The creator of the original manga, Hajime Isayama told Shin Joho 7days Newscaster: “I feel like I want to finish it. It feels like I’m nearly at the end of a marathon.”

Attack on Titan season 4 will be released on Funimation through Hulu – chances are the season will never come to Netflix.

UPDATE: It has just been announced at FunimationCon 2020 that there will be Attack on Titan original movie coming later this year entitled ‘Chronicle’ that will recap season 1 – 3. We predict that this will be released in the weeks leading up to the premiere of season 4, so keep an eye out for this in the coming weeks.

Attack on Titan season 4: Plot

Season 4 will follow the story in chapter 91 of the manga series, but this is arguably the one show that shouldn’t be spoiled for fans. So, what could season 4 have in store for us based on season 3 and the reveal trailer.

Most likely, the fourth season will continue the plot from season 3 and focus on what happened to Eren and his team.

“This time the story is expected to go overseas as the survey corps make significant progress. The protagonist Eren along with Mikasa, Levi and Armin, will cross the sea and will find out some exciting details.” – The Nation Roar.

This prediction has been somewhat confirmed by the reveal trailer, which shows a completely new landscape and one that resembles a World War-esc battlefield.

We also see several new titans and whilst we don’t expect these to play the main role in season 4, they may indeed influence the final battle with Marley. Although there are also rumblings that a brand-new titan ability will play a massive part in season 4.

Attack on Titan season 4: Trailer reaction

Whilst October may feel like a long time away, fans of the show just can’t wait to finally see how the series wraps up.

It is safe to say that after watching the reveal trailer for season 4, there wasn’t a single fan of the anime that wasn’t hyped up.
