Leeds United have announced on Twitter that Bobby Kamwa has signed a new deal with the Elland Road club.

The 20-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a new contract that ties him to the Whites until the year 2022.

Kamwa is yet to make a senior and competitive debut for Leeds, but he’s a very exciting Under-23 player.

He scored three goals in five Professional Development League and the Premier League Cup games this past season, which was disrupted due to injury.

But Leeds clearly think a lot of him, hence his new deal to keep him West Yorkshire.

Here’s how fans of the Elland Road club reacted to this one on Twitter.

The bad news for Thorp Arch products is it’s only going to get harder to progress into the first team, if Leeds win Premier League promotion.

The standard is clearly going to be much higher if Marcelo Bielsa’s side – who have a six-point cushion in the automatic promotion places, with six games left – seal their top-flight return in the coming weeks.

And with that comes more pressure on Bielsa and future managers to use tried-and-tested players, lessening the need for youth talent.

But the cream rises eventually and if Kamwa is good enough, he’ll get chances.
