The Animal Crossing New Horizons summer update is out and there are dozens of deep sea creatures for you to catch. Similar to the giant isopod, one of the more difficult sea creatures to pluck from the depths of the ocean is the gigas giant clam. Here you’ll discover how and when to find it, plus how to catch it so you can stop chasing its behind.
In order to be able to play in the sea as opposed to just having the ocean tickle your toes, you must purchase a swimsuit. Donning a fashionable swimsuit will allow you to swim and dive, in which you can then pick up dozens of sea creatures such as scallops. This could reward you with a visit from Pascal who owns mermaid-themed DIY recipes.
But, away from Pascal and his obsession with scallops, below you’ll discover when the gigas giant clam spawns in Animal Crossing New Horizons and how to catch it.
When does gigas giant clam spawn in ACNH?
A gigas giant clam will spawn during all hours of the day in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
However, while active during all hours of the day, a gigas giant clam will only spawn in the Northern hemisphere of Animal Crossing New Horizons during the following months:
How to catch a gigas giant clam in Animal Crossing New Horizons
The gigas giant clam is another difficult catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons thanks to it being a fast sea creature.
When trying to catch the gigas giant clam in Animal Crossing New Horizons, its large circular shadow will move away from you regardless of how fast you swim by smashing the A button.
However, players have managed to pluck it from the ocean by gradually swimming normally towards a set of bubbles and simply diving when on top of the bubbles.
Another method that has proven successful for catching the gigas giant clam is trapping it by the fence and in a corner. You can do this by relentlessly swimming after it.
Once you do catch your first gigas giant clam, you’ll want to donate it to Blather for his museum and then sell any others you catch for a handsome money bag of bells.
