The Animal Crossing New Horizons summer update is out and there’s plenty of deep sea creatures for you to catch and sell for a handsome price. One of the most notable sea creatures is a giant isopod, and here you’ll discover how to find and catch this fast sea creature so you can add it to your museum and then sell others for a handsome amount of bells.
In order to capture this and other sea creatures, you must first get a swimsuit. Once you’ve mastered the ability to swim and dive, you can then pick up a number of things from the depths of the ocean including scallops which could reward you with a visit from a new visitor named Pascal.
However, away from scallops and Pascal, below you’ll discover how to find and catch a giant isopod in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
When does giant isopod spawn in ACNH?
A giant isopod will spawn in the ocean of Animal Crossing New Horizons between the hours of 09:00 to 16:00, as well as 21:00 to 04:00.
In addition, a giant isopod will only spawn in the Northern hemisphere of Animal Crossing New Horizons during the following months:
How to catch giant isopod in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Catching a giant isopod in Animal Crossing New Horizons is difficult thanks to it being a fast sea creature.
You can try to catch a giant isopod in Animal Crossing New Horizons by diving and smashing the A button to swim faster, but this never works and people have had more luck by following the same strategy used for bugs.
Rather than swimming quickly towards a set of bubbles, players have had luck by swimming up to bubbles normally without pressing A.
When on top of the bubbles, all you need to then is dive underwater and pick up the sea creature. The shadow size for a giant isopod is large.
Aside from sneaking up on sea creatures, you can also try to catch a giant isopod and others by swimming after and forcing them up against the fence or into a corner.
Once you catch your first giant isopod, you will want to donate it to the museum before selling any others for bells.
