Simon Johnson has predicted on Twitter that two more wins will be enough for Leeds United to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The former Leeds attacking midfielder made the comment following the Whites’ 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The result means that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are now at the top of the Championship table with 78 points from 41 matches.
The West Yorkshire outfit are as many as six points ahead of third-placed Brentford and look set to finish in the top two.
Johnson believes that two more wins for Leeds should see them clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, former Leeds striker Noel Whelan has praised the Whites for the win against Blackburn this afternoon.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (4:55pm, Saturday, July 4, 2020): “It’s a big win, it’s a great reaction to the Luton game, that’s for sure. We saw that after the Cardiff game against Fulham.”
The former Leeds striker added: “It’s a much-needed three points, that’s for sure. Five games to go, that’s another green tick and a W next to it.”
Inching closer to promotion
Leeds have not played in the Premier League since 2004, but things are looking very promising at the moment.
The Whites need to maintain this kind of performance and results for a few more games, and they will be back among the big boys.
