Some Tottenham Hotspur supporters are ruing the club’s failure to sign a player who starred for Sheffield United against their side on Thursday.
The London Evening Standard listed Sander Berge as ‘an option’ for Spurs in January, but eventually joined the Blades in a deal reportedly worth around £19 million.
The former Genk midfielder has experienced a slow start to life at Bramall Lane, aided of course by the ongoing global health crisis.
But Berge showed exactly what he is capable of as Sheffield United swept aside Tottenham last night, scoring his side’s first goal and creating their third in a 3-1 win.
In contrast, Tottenham’s midfield proved ineffective against the Blades.
And the following Spurs fans have given credit where it was due to their rumoured former target.
Sheffield United’s success was their first since the Premier League restart, but lifted them to seventh in the standings – above ninth-place Tottenham.
Jose Mourinho’s side have now won just one of their last six top-flight fixtures, stretching back to February.
Tottenham fans – what did you make of the Blades’ Sander Berge?
