According to Bild, Everton and Newcastle United are interested in bringing Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie to the Premier League.
It’s claimed that McKennie dreams of moving to England, and that could now be a real possibility when the transfer window opens.
Everton and Newcastle are thought to be leading the race, but there are ‘two more clubs’ besides them that can pay big money for him.
Schalke sporting director Jochen Schneider is willing to listen to offers, and the Bundesliga side would want around €25million (£22.5million) for McKennie.
Schalke are in financial trouble due to the global pandemic, and selling McKennie is seen as a way to bring in much-needed funds.
McKennie, 21, is a versatile midfielder who has played in front of the back four, working box-to-box or even in a more advanced role.

He has bagged three goals and one assist in all competitions this season. McKennis is tall, physical and aggressive, whist also possessing strong defensive awareness.
Newcastle could step up with the cash if their takeover goes through, but it’s hard to see them having the ability to spend £22.5million on him without new owners.
The Magpies could also try and use international teammate DeAndre Yedlin to tempt McKennie into snubbing Everton, though the presence of Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park has to be a real temptation for the youngster.
