It looks very much like Liverpool could be signing Thiago Alcantara.

According to Sport in Spain, Thiago’s move to Anfield has just gotten a bit closer to materialising.

The 29-year-old is refusing to sign a new deal with Bayern Munich and with one year left on his existing contract, a cut-price move to Liverpool seems to be on the agenda.

Thiago is one of the many stars at the Allianz Arena, having started five of his six Champions League appearances this season, as well as clocked 20 Bundesliga outings due to injury.

Here’s how Bayern fans reacted to the prospect of losing their midfielder to Liverpool.

What a blinding bit of business this could be for Jurgen Klopp.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss presumably keeps an eye on German football and he will know just how good the Barcelona product is.

And with Gini Wijnaldum only having one year left on his deal, the Liverpool boss has to think ahead and prepare for possibly losing the influential Dutchman.

And what a good replacement Thiago could be, if that is indeed Klopp’s plan here.
