The Baby-Sitters Club has been reimagined and Momona Tamada shines as Claudia Kishi. Where have we seen the actress before?

Many will have fond memories of reading The Baby-Sitters Club books written by Ann M. Martin.

The novels were published between 1986 and 2000, with Ann writing the first 36; the others were ghost-written. Nevertheless, they continued to be celebrated by fans and, indeed, were responsible for getting many kids into reading.

Back in 1990 there was a TV series adaptation on HBO and Nickelodeon and there’s now a new one to tuck into on Netflix which is introducing a new generation to its strong circle of friends.

It’s been well received and boasts a wonderful ensemble. Let’s take a moment to highlight one of the talents at its centre…

The Baby-Sitters Club starring Momona Tamada

Momona Tamada stars in the new series as the vice-president of The Baby-Sitters Club, Claudia Kishi.

The young actress has recently spoken about her role in an interview with J-14:

“I relate to Claudia a lot actually! I love art and during school, I would always draw little doodles all over my work turning numbers into animals and words into pictures… From a young age, I was definitely into creating new things! I love fashion but Claudia’s wardrobe was a definite eye opener and encouraged me to try new clothes out.”

Just Jared Jr also highlights that she’s begun learning to play the piano, but acting is already something she’s clearly ahead in.

Momona Tamada: Previous roles

Although Momona only arrived on screens recently, she’s already appeared in some absolute gems.

According to IMDb, she first appeared in a 2019 episode of The Boys (she played Young the Female) and followed this up with a brief role in the AMC series The Terror (Kazu’s Great-Granddaughter).

As for this year, she’s already been in an episode of Gabby Duran & The Unsittables (Dancer) and the film The Main Event (Erica), directed by Jay Karas and starring Seth Carr.

On the other hand, we imagine audiences will be most familiar with her thanks to her role as Young Laura Jean in the Netflix sequel To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.

She’s already scheduled to reprise the part in the forthcoming sequel, To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean, which is currently in post-production.
