Tottenham Hotspur slumped to a dismal 3-1 defeat away at Sheffield United this evening, with Jose Mourinho receiving huge criticism.
Spurs had beaten West Ham United last week, and fans were hoping to push towards the top four with another win against an out-of-sorts Sheffield United side.
However, Spurs fell behind to Sander Berge’s first Blades goal, and Spurs’ frustration was compounded just moments later when Harry Kane’s equaliser was ruled out for a handball against Lucas Moura.
Woeful defending saw Lys Mousset ghost in to make it 2-0, and Oli McBurnie hit a third with a very similar goal to seal the win.
Kane bagged a late goal from Son Heung-min’s pass, but it wasn’t enough to put any sort of positive spin on a terrible evening for Tottenham.
Mourinho’s side were poor going forward but also shambolic defensively, which is the one thing Mourinho is supposed to be great at resolving.
Spurs fans are understandably furious, and many have been calling for Daniel Levy to ‘call it right’ by bringing back Mauricio Pochettino in Mourinho’s place.
Levy sacked Pochettino for Mourinho in November, but fans reminded Levy that the Argentinian – who took Spurs so far forward in his five years in charge – is still available, and should be brought back immediately.
