According to Doble Amarilla in Argentina, Leeds United want to sign Racing Club de Avellaneda playmaker Matias Zaracho if they win promotion.
It’s claimed that the Whites plan to spend on promising young players if they go up, and Marcelo Bielsa is looking to the Argentinian market he will know so well.
River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta is one target, but it’s claimed that the money could also go towards Racing starlet Zaracho.
Zaracho, 22, has emerged through the Racing ranks. In 91 games for the Argentinian side, the midfielder has racked up 11 goals and 10 assists.
Zaracho has great versatility; he can play as a number 10, on either flank or in central midfield, meaning he could be an ideal heir to Pablo Hernandez in the Leeds side.
He already has a first senior cap for Argentina, and a move to AC Milan looked to be on the cards, but Calciomercato claimed in April that Milan put the deal on hold.
Leeds may now swoop in and hijack the move, offering Zaracho the chance to work with legend Bielsa – an appealing prospect for any Argentinian player.
Zaracho is certainly an ambitious target for Leeds given the interest in him from elsewhere, but the Whites certainly have plenty to offer him.
