Call of Duty’s mid-Season 4 update for Modern Warfare has removed the Warzone Rumble mode — and players aren’t happy.

First added to the game when Season 4 began, Warzone Rumble placed players into two teams of 50 within the city of Verdansk, offering players the chance to use custom loadouts, as well as being able to automatically respawn.

But, since the new update, the popular Warzone mode has vanished, much to the disappointment of players.

Modern Warfare: What happened to Warzone Rumble?

  • What happened to Warzone Rumble exactly is currently unknown, but with how often Call of Duty games cycle through different playlists, it’s unlikely Rumble will disappear forever.

The removal of the mode isn’t even mentioned in the June 29 patch notes or the Activision Games Blog post about the Season 4 Reloaded update.

Sadly, for those missing it, Activision has not confirmed how long Warzone Rumble will be gone from the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

It proved a popular addition and that might explain why it was available to play for so long in Warzone. New content, however, has been added to replace it.

Warzone 200-player Battle Royale

The biggest addition in terms of both import and scale is, undoubtedly, the 200-player Quads mode within Battle Royale in Warzone.

That means 50 Quads of operators fighting each other and the encroaching circle collapse. Sounds pretty hectic, right?

A message from the Call of Duty team explained: “A quick playlist update is going out now across all platforms that moves the BR 200 Quads playlist out of the sub menu and onto the main page in Warzone.”

Opinion: Hopefully, it doesn’t put too much stress on Activision’s servers. If so, the mode should stay for good. After all, an extra 50 players shouldn’t hurt, right?

New Season 4 content

While Warzone Rumble is now gone, players can enjoy some of the new content available during Season 4.

This includes the Rytec AMR, which is an anti-material rifle listed within the greater sniper rifle category capable of ripping through enemy equipment and vehicles.

While this new weapon is now available in-game, Warzone and Modern Warfare players will still need to unlock it.

How do you unlock the Rytec AMR in Modern Warfare and Warzone?

To unlock the Rytec AMR Sniper Rifle, you will need to complete the following in-game challenge to unlock it:

  • Get 3 quickscope kills with a sniper or marksman rifle in 15 different games.
  • Or, you can unlock it by purchasing a blueprint variant through the Store via the ‘Lost Souls’ bundle.
