Arsenal are reportedly interested in Wout Weghorst, but the striker is actually a Liverpool fan.
Bild has reported that Arsenal are interested in signing Weghorst from Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window.
The report in the German publication has added that Newcastle United also want to secure the services of the 27-year-old, with Wolfsburg looking for €35million (£31.98 million) as transfer fee.
The former AZ star is actually a Liverpool fan and grew up wanting to play for the Anfield outfit.
The Netherlands international striker told Goal.com in May 2020 that he “always found Liverpool very special”, adding that he would love to play in England at some point in his career.
Good signing for Arsenal?
Weghorst is a good striker who has proved to be a success in Germany, and he would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal.
If Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette leaves in the summer transfer window, then the Dutchman would be a good replacement.
According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old scored 16 goals and provided three assists in the Bundesliga this past season, and scored 17 goals and provided seven assists in the league for Wolfsburg during the 2018-19 campaign.
