Dark season 3 has impressed audiences, some of which are still asking who Regina Tiedemann’s father is. Let’s take a look.
All good things must come to an end…
It’s always really refreshing when a phenomenal TV series bows out gracefully, without firing out season after season with diminishing interest.
A number of acclaimed modern series have arguably overstayed their welcome, but fans of Dark will be glad to know its legacy will remain intact after a spectacular third and final season.
This sci-fi series co-created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese arrived on Netflix in 2017 and introduced audiences to the town of Winden, Germany, ushering in a mystery which has spawned many others.
Across three seasons it has sculpted such a unique world; fortunately, the finale wrapped up some loose ends viewers have been dying to solve for some time.
Now, let’s talk about the identity of Regina Tiedemann’s father…
Dark: Unravelling the mystery
We reflect on the words of Old Claudia Tiedemann (Lisa Kreuzer) who has expressed that once their two worlds are destroyed, those born out of the “cancer” will die, but Regina will live.
In the finale, as highlighted by Meaww, Claudia also says this to Tronte Nielson (Walter Kreye) and their conversation reveals that he wasn’t actually Regina’s father, which audiences had long suspected.
However, this doesn’t change the fact that Tronte believed he was, which immediately makes audiences question the man’s identity.
Her lengthy presence in Winden certainly narrows it down, along with the Tronte reveal. Fortunately, we’re given some imperative insight down the line…
Dark: Who is Regina Tiedemann’s father?
In an enlightening sequence, the audience falls witness to a photograph which features Claudia, Regina and Bernd Doppler, presented as a family unit.
The implications of this can be considered pretty damn disturbing, which explains why it remained a mystery for such a long time. On the other hand, it does explain why Regina exists in the origin world.
Indeed, audiences have been quick to point out the 33-year age gap between him and Claudia.
Some have interpreted the photo differently though, arguing that it suggests Bernd was merely a guardian or parental figure of sorts. However, such a theory is unlikely, especially considering Claudia’s earlier declaration that she wishes Tronte was the father.
