According to Foot Mercato, Crystal Palace have joined Newcastle United in the race to sign Lyon winger Bertrand Traore.
Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis are thought to be keen on Traore, though Newcastle also want him in the event of a takeover, which has been dragging on for far too long.
The fear will be that Newcastle will miss out on targets because their takeover hasn’t been completed, and that could include Traore.
Premier League rivals Palace are now joining the race, and have allegedly enquired about the possibility of a deal for the Lyon striker.
Roy Hodgson is thought to be a big fan of Traore, and Lyon’s interest in Mamadou Sakho may just facilitate a swap deal.
That would be a nightmare for Newcastle if they really do want Traore, as not only would they miss out, but they would see him join another Premier League club.
The 24-year-old winger only hit four goals and five assists this past season, but 29 goals in his first two seasons at Lyon show what a player he can be.
Burkina Faso international Traore was only given 10 Premier League appearances at Chelsea, so may fancy another crack at English football – but whether that’s Palace or Newcastle remains to be seen.
