Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are among the clubs interested in signing Djordje Petrovic, according to FootMercato.

It has been reported that Rangers have enquired about the possibility of signing the 20-year-old goalkeeper from FC Cukaricki in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Nice, Paris FC, Getafe, Anderlecht and KV Mechelen have also enquired about the youngster.

It has been further suggested that Rangers, Nice, Paris FC, Getafe, Anderlecht and KV Mechelen could make an offer for the Serbian in the coming weeks.

No need for Djordje Petrovic at Rangers?

Petrovic is a very talented and promising young goalkeeper, but one has to ask whether Rangers actually need another player for that position.

Allan McGregor is the first-choice goalkeeper at Rangers at the moment, while Jon McLaughlin has been signed on a free transfer this summer.

Andy Firth and Robby McCrorie are talented young goalkeepers, and there is really no need for Rangers to sign another custodian.

Meanwhile, midfielder Stephen Kelly has shared the conversation he had with Rangers manager Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister before making a season-long loan move to Ross County.

Kelly told The Glasgow Evening Times: “I had a quick chat [with Steven Gerrard] before I left and he and Gary McAllister expect me to make a big impact.

“We agree that it’s a massive 12 months for me. The biggest thing is to get the minutes and then the goals and assists come second, but the main thing is to get games.”
