It was already rumoured that Fable could be coming to Xbox Series X, but a recently made Twitter account for the game has added more fuel to the fire — meaning that Fable 4 could be closer than we thought.

Over the weekend, Xbox fans discovered an official Twitter account for Fable, fuelling speculation that the new game in the franchise would be announced soon.

Could Fable 4 be coming to Xbox Series X?

A Twitter user also confirmed that the Fable account has a Microsoft email address, having used the platform’s reset password tool.

Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg, however, denied that Fable was coming anytime soon, confirming that the account was made for the sole purpose of securing social media handles for the company’s IP.

Despite Greenberg’s denial, though, fans may still very well be getting news on Fable sooner rather than later. Fable 4 leaks have been plentiful enough throughout the years and it’s more or less an open secret at this point.

The Fable series started with its first game for the Xbox in 2004. Lionhead Studios then announced Fable Legends for the Xbox One in 2013, but the game was canceled, much to the disappointment of its fanbase, as the developer shut down in 2016.

Fable in the making

But, in 2018, Eurogamer reported that the game is a story and character-focused open-world action RPG that has a development team of more than 200 people.

Reports also indicated that Playground Games has been working on Fable 4, which is something that Head of Xbox Phil Spencer even hinted at during Microsoft’s E3 2018 presentation.

While Playground Games is mostly known for its work on the Forza Horizon franchise, there’s no reason why it can’t branch out into other Microsoft IP, especially since the studio is now owned by Xbox Game Studios.

Fable 4 on Xbox Series X?

  • Currently, there is no news on Fable 4’s release date, but we can’t see it coming any earlier than 2021.

The Xbox Series X July showcase is expected to bring news about Halo Infinite — a launch title for the Series X — as well as Microsoft’s other exclusive games.

The rumoured Fable 4 will almost inevitably be a strong addition to the Xbox Series X lineup and 2021 could well be the year we finally see the game too. It only feels appropriate that its eagerly anticipated announcement should fall into part of the upcoming Xbox Series X games line-up.

And if Fable 4 is shown in July as rumoured, then fans can expect its inactive Twitter account to start posting content soon.
