Ray Parlour has reacted on Twitter to Arsenal’s dramatic 2-1 FA Cup win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane this afternoon.
Mikel Arteta’s side looked to be sailing into the semi-final of the competition after Nicolas Pepe gave them a first-half lead from the penalty spot.
But David McGoldrick looked to have sent the game into extra time with a fortuitous equaliser on 87 minutes.
However, Dani Ceballos, on loan from Real Madrid, snatched a dramatic win for Arsenal by squeezing home from a tight angle in stoppage time.
Here’s how club legend Parlour reacted at full-time:
The only other team to have booked their semi-final place at the moment is Manchester United.
But Chelsea and Manchester City could join them in the hat by tonight, with the Blues away to Leicester and Pep Guardiola’s side visiting Newcastle at 6pm.
Arsenal needed this win. Their season is now entirely about winning the FA Cup, given the 11-point gap between them and the Champions League qualification places.
It’s the FA Cup or bust for the Gunners and today they proved that they want it.
Here’s what Shkodran Mustafi said to BT Sport about his team-mates’ character at full-time: “I think that shows character. The win against Southampton helped the team to get back confidence. Today we didn’t give up even when they equalised. We believed until the end and we were rewarded.”
