What a day for Leeds United.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side thumped promotion rivals Fulham 3-0 at Elland Road to move top of the Championship.

But more significantly, Leeds also established an eight-point cushion in the automatic promotion places with seven games to go.

All in all, a wonderful day for everybody associated with the Whites, but much of the post-match headlines will centre around an early first-half incident.

Aleksandar Mitrovic appeared to aim an elboe at Leeds centre-back Ben White in an off-the-ball incident that went unseen by the referee – and subsequently, unpunished.

The Serbian striker has 23 Championship goals for the Londoners this season and him staying on the field after that incident could’ve been damaging for Bielsa’s troops.

Here’s how fans of the West Yorkshire club reacted to that one on Twitter today:

Still, White played the remainder of the game and looks to be fine.

And it’ll take more than Mitrovic being Mitrovic to take the gloss of this win for Leeds, who are ever so close to reaching the Premier League again following a 16-year absence.
