Rangers are keen to reinforce their midfield with the signing of £2.5 million international Bongani Zungu from Amiens, according to France Football.
When the Gers hired Ross Wilson as their new director of football last year, they knew that they were getting a man with a fine track record when it comes to unearthing diamonds in the rough.
During his time at Southampton, the transfer market specialist brought the likes of Cedric Soares, Nathan Redmond, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and a certain Dutch defender by the name of Virgil van Dijk to the South Coast.
It remains to be seen whether Zungu, however, would be more Van Dijk and less Wesley Hoedt at Ibrox.
At the age of 27, the South Africa international is already at the peak of his powers but to say he is not exactly a regular at Amiens would be an understatement.
Zungu started just 10 Ligue 1 matches in 2019/20 as Amiens were relegated from the top flight.

With that in mind, £2.5 million feels like a rather princely sum for a player who couldn’t even secure a regular starting place for a team who recently tumbled into the second tier.
Especially when you consider that Zungu is due to become a free agent in 12 months’ time.
And Rangers are not exactly short of options in central midfield either with Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis all capable of playing in a ball-winning role in front of the back four.
