Newcastle United are the latest club to show an interest in signing Anderlecht’s Belgian U21 international Jeremy Doku this summer, according to Voetbal Krant.
Some of the finest footballers in the modern game have risen through the ranks at a Jupiler League giant.
And it is a credit to Doku’s potential that, at the age of just 18, he is already being mentioned in the same breath as Romelu Lukaku, Leander Dendoncker, Youri Tielemans and, of course, Anderlecht legend-turned-coach Vincent Kompany.

A speedy winger who appears to suit Steve Bruce’s counter-attacking style down to the ground, Doku could be on his way to St James’ Park after exploding onto the scene with three goals and three assists in 2019/20.
Voetbal Krant claim that Newcastle have joined Liverpool and AC Milan in targeting the jet-heeled teen, who is expected to cost around £18 million.

And if Doku lives up to his dazzling potential, there is no reason to believe he cannot emulate a Belgian great on English shores.
“If he perfects his left [foot], he is fully capable of reaching the top. Then he will even surpass Eden Hazard in terms of potential,” former Anderlecht boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck told Het Niuewsblad recently.
Hazard is not the only bonafide footballing great who Doku has been compared with during his formative years at one of the most famed academies in European football.
Speaking to HN in February, the youngster’s father claims that a potential move to Liverpool was rejected in 2018 – despite Jurgen Klopp believing that Doku could be the new Sadio Mane at Anfield.
