It’s fair to say that Javier Manquillo looks like a different player at Newcastle United these days.
The 26-year-old joined Newcastle back in 2017 under Rafael Benitez but wasn’t always an important player for the Spaniard.
In fact, Manquillo was quite often a derided figure among Magpies fans during his first two years under Benitez at St James’s Park, due to some error-strewn, haphazard performances.
But since Steve Bruce has taken the reins in the North-East, the former Liverpool right-back has blossomed into an important player for the club.

And today, Newcastle confirmed that their defender had signed a new four-year contract as a reward for his consistency and hard work this season.

It’s interesting that this had a greenlight before the club’s £300 million buyout by Saudi Public Investment Fund has been ratified by the Premier League.
Newcastle fans have been waiting since April to see Mike Ashley replaced by the prospective new owners at St James’s Park, but The Shields Gazette reported today that there could be a breakthrough on that front in the coming days.
