Bulbbul arrives on Netflix in June and introduces film fans to a host of new acting talent but what do we know about the film’s star, Tripti Dimri?
As a US-based streaming service, it’s hardly surprising that Netflix is best known for big-budget drama series such as Stranger Things and The Witcher.
However, in recent years, we’ve seen much more diverse content appear on the streaming service as Netflix’s global audience continues to grow.
As a result, as well as docuseries, reality TV and Oscar-winning filmed, we’ve seen a swathe of international films and TV series appear on Netflix.
Netflix’s latest international arrival is the Indian-made film Bulbbul.
As an Indian production, the film features a host of cast and crew members that many won’t be familiar with.
Chief among the cast is Tripti Dimri but just what do we know about this emerging acting talent?
Bulbbul on Netflix
Bulbbul released on Netflix on June 24th, 2020.
The Hindi-language horror flick is set in Bengal Presidency during the late 1800s and early 1900s and centres around the titular character of Bulbbul.
We first meet Bulbbul in 1881 as a five-year-old child who is about to go through an arranged marriage to a man several decades her senior, Indranil.
Twenty years later, Indranil’s brother, Satya, returns to his hometown after studying law in London.
However, not everything is quite right as rumours swirl about a mysterious witch who has killed several men in the village.
Introducing Tripti Dimri as Bulbbul
Taking on the titular role in Bulbbul is Indian actress Tripti Dimri.
Born on February 23rd, 1994, Dimri is currently 26 years old.
Tripti, who is also known as Trapss, has only been acting professionally since 2017 but has impressed in her few roles to date, which we’ll get onto in a moment.
Tripti Dimri: Films and TV
As mentioned, Tripti Dimri made her acting debut in 2017, this came when she appeared as the character Riya in the film Poster Boys.
Since then, Dimri has gone on to appear in just four acting roles in total.
The biggest of which came in the 2018 film Laila Majnu where she again played the title character.
Also in 2018, Tripti appeared in several episodes of the Indian TV series Naagin.
With a number of high-profile roles to her name already, and a starring role in a Netflix original, we’re sure it won’t be too long before Tripti Dimri appears on our screens once again.
Until then, Bulbbul is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on June 24th, 2020.
