According to Tuttosport, Everton and Newcastle United are leading the charge from the Premier League for the signature of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move this summer.

Ralf Rangnick will take charge of AC Milan ahead of next season, and the former RB Leipzig boss is likely to shake things up at the club.

Kessie is a regular in Milan’s midfield. However, his future is unclear.

Newcastle were first linked with the £26 million midfielder last month (Milan Live).

The Magpies are in the middle of a Saudi billionaire takeover and the Tyneside club could be set for an exciting summer on the transfer front.

But the latest reports from Italy claim they have competition for Kessie from Everton.

Tuttosport say Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is looking to bulk up his side’s midfield. And, the Italian will know of Kessie from his time in Serie A with Napoli.

The Toffees are to resume Premier League action at home to Liverpool on Sunday. Their last game ended in a 4-0 defeat at Chelsea where they were blown away.

The midfield duo of Tom Davies and Andre Gomes that day failed to provide defensive protection while Kessie, however, could offer Everton more steel where they need it.

Former Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso told Sportmediaset how Kessie is a far stronger player than he ever was, pointing to his ability to also add goals.

The Merseyside club have missed the presence of Idrissa Gueye this season. A new midfield enforcer should be a top priority and Kessie has the tools to succeed.
