Reported Arsenal and Newcastle United target Myron Boadu says there is now an increased chance he will remain at AZ Alkmaar following the global health crisis, Ad.nl report.

The talented striker has been linked with a move away from the club.

According to a report by 90Min in March, Newcastle United want to sign him.

The Magpies are currently in the middle of a potential Saudi billionaire takeover. Steve Bruce’s side may have plenty to be excited about over the coming months.

But their chances of signing Boadu appear slim following his latest comments.

“The chance that I will stay at AZ has increased because of the crisis. I always said that I wanted to win a prize at AZ and that has not happened yet due to circumstances. I think it is really possible here. We have to stick together. If a few go away, the momentum may be gone,” the striker explained.

Newcastle aren’t the only Premier League club interested in Boadu.

Arsenal have also been linked with Voetbal4u claiming the Gunners have cited the £17.5 million striker as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang’s contract at Arsenal expires in 2021 and the club must cash in on him this summer if they can’t agree a new deal for the Gabon international.

Boadu, ironically, told Goal how he previously turned down a move to Arsenal.

The 19-year-old posted 19 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season.

AZ were second only on goal difference behind Ajax at the time of the suspension. Controversially, Holland decided to call an end to the campaign early, with Ajax declared winners.
