Monaco might need to sell players this summer but star striker Wissam Ben Yedder will not be leaving to join Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur, vice-president and CEO Oleg Petrov has told RMC Sport.

If the appointment of Paul Mitchell as Monaco’s new sporting director proved anything, it’s that Monaco will be continuing with their sign-low, sell-high transfer policy.

Mitchell worked wonders at Southampton and RB Leipzig, snapping up under-the-radar talents on the cheap before they departed for a substantial profit.

Monaco have been doing something very similar in the last few seasons.

And, as Petrov himself admits, the 2017 Ligue 1 champions will ‘have to let players go’ during a summer in which the transfer market has been flipped on it’s head.

But one player not up for sale is a France international who has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs via L’Equipe.

“We still want to keep Wissam. He is a great asset to the club, a great pro. We expect him to stay in Monaco. There is no question of him leaving the club,” Petrov says after Ben Yedder’s 19-goal season in Monte Carlo.

One of the most instinctive and naturally-gifted goalscorers in European football, Ben Yedder found the net 70 times in just three seasons at Sevilla before bringing his ruthless finishing skills to Monaco.

With Arsenal under pressure to plan for life after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Tottenham scouring the market for players capable of competing with Harry Kane, it is no surprise that Ben Yedder is a man in such high demand.
