Franck Kessie has all-but ruled out a summer move to Arsenal or Newcastle United, telling Milan TV that he’s ‘home’ at the San Siro.
With the Nerazzuri increasingly likely to miss out on Champions League football yet again, speculation continues to rage about the future of a whole host of key players.
But one man who will not be heading for the door, despite another season of underachievement from the seven-time European champions, is a midfielder who has played under four managers in the space of just three years.
Tuttomercatoweb claimed in May that Newcastle were set to make a £27 million loan-to-buy bid for Kessie, while Arsenal also expressed an interest in a real powerhouse of a footballer who could give some much-needed bite to Mikel Arteta’s brittle midfield (Milan News).
But, according to the man himself, he is not going anywhere.
“I have been here for three years, I feel at home here. I am happy to be here,” says a man who joined Milan from Atalanta during that free-spending summer of 2017.
“We must fight and give everything to take Milan as high as possible.”
Kessie’s words will be music to the ears of Nerazzuri fans everywhere.
He might be well short of matching his tally of seven goals from the 2018/19 season but a midfielder who combines technique and tenacity in equal measure is still one of the first names on the AC Milan team-sheet.
And, at 23, he can only get better in the years to come.
