Crunchyroll has just revealed the official release date for The God of High School and it’s only a few weeks away.

For many of us, Crunchyroll has been the go-to site for anime news for years. However, now they are setting out in a new direction, original adaptations!

The God of High School is a South Korean web manhwa written and illustrated by Yonje Park. The original series was popularised in the west in 2014 when Webtoon released an English translation.

The God of High School was announced to be adapted by MAPPA animation studios and Crunchyroll back in February 2020.

Fans were already excited after character posters and an intial trailer were released a few weeks ago, but Crunchyroll has just announced an official release date.

The God of High School anime is scheduled to be released on July 6 – only a few weeks away!


This has been the cause for serious excitement online with many expecting the show to premiere at the end of the month.

We expect that the plot for The God of High School anime will follow the story of the original manhwa.

The plot focuses on Ji Mo-Ri, a 17-year-old from Seoul, South Korea. As an up-and-coming young martial artist, he is invited to a massive regional tournament called ‘The God of High School’.

Participants in the tournament fight through “Borrowed Power” (Charyeok in Korean), magical energy given by supernatural entities such as gods or demons.

Without spoiling any more of the awesome story, Mo-Ri fights his way through the tournament and meets a cast of other competitors, each with their own unique fighting style.

Understandabley, lots of fans can’t contain their excitement at The God of High School getting ots own anime series.

However, it it the quality of the trailers that have really caused the excitement within the community – it looks slick, true to the material and adrenaline-pumping!

However, other fans are going down a different route – appreciation the volume of quality anime that is just over the horizon.

There has never been a better time to be an anime lover and many fans are accepting that it is going to be a very exciting few months!

The God of High School will be available to view in July 2020.
