Celtic are the only Scottish club with a youngster nominated for Europe’s prestigious Golden Boy Award.
There are 100 nominees compiled by Tuttosport, made up of the best young players on the continent.
Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele is on the long list, recognition of the continued good progress he is making in his promising career.
Dembele made three first team appearances for Celtic this past season, including one in the Europa League.
The London born winger is now 17 and he is a player who manager Neil Lennon hopes to further integrate into his first team squad next season.
The Golden Boy Award winner will be announced in November, with the 100 nominees cut to 20 beforehand.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is the runaway favourite for this year’s award.
In the past the award has been won by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas.
For Dembele just to be nominated is a big positive, and it should reassure him that he can gain international recognition while staying at Celtic.
If his career continues on an upwards curve, this will not be the only year Dembele is nominated.
