Sony held a PlayStation 5 reveal event last week that pleased mostly everyone. Spider-Man Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart were all announced as Sony exclusives, but the showcase also featured multi-platform games such as Resident Evil 8. And, while the Van Helsing-esque Resident Evil 8 looks incredible, lots of Sony loyalists want to know whether it will have VR support on PS5.
Although we didn’t get the Silent Hill announcement that lots of gamers were praying for, the reveal of Resident Evil 8 was highly welcomed after numerous leaks that were proven to be true. However, if the two-minute trailer wasn’t enough for you, know that Capcom have promised to deliver more news in August.
Hopefully further news will elaborate on the story and gameplay, as well as whether or not Resident Evil 8 will support VR on PS5.
Will Resident Evil 8 be VR?
Capcom haven’t said that Resident Evil 8 will fully be or support VR on PS5.
Sony have confirmed that the PS5 will support PSVR, but Capcom haven’t said anything about Resident Evil 8 utilising VR.
To make matters appear bleak, trusted leaker AestheticGamer has said that the sequel was initially intended to feature virtual reality.
They also claim that the game was initially intended to be cross-gen (meaning releases on PS4 and PS5), but that’s obviously not happening now so they’re unsure whether VR will be added.
It’d be disappointing if Resident Evil 8 didn’t support VR as the virtual reality mode was the best aspect of Resident Evil 7.
Capcom could still possibly announce VR support in August or add it to the game post-launch, but right now any sort of compatibility hasn’t been announced.
Resident Evil 8 is slated to launch in 2021.
