The tenth season was cherished by fans but is Blue Bloods being cancelled? Some are concerned that it won’t be back for an eleventh.
Throughout the 2010s, we were fortunate enough to witness the emergence of so many shows which are destined to go down in the TV hall of fame.
From Game of Thrones to Fleabag, from Mr. Robot to The Leftovers, there are so many extraordinary highlights.
They don’t say we’re living in the golden age of television for nothing!
We’d argue that one of the less widely championed but brilliant shows to emerge at the start of the last decade is Blue Bloods. Created by Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess, this American police procedural has been impressing audiences for a whopping ten seasons now, boasting great performances from Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg and more.
After so long it’s impressive to see it going strong, but can we expect more to come?
Is Blue Bloods being cancelled?
- No, there has been no official announcement that Blue Bloods is cancelled.
CBS renewed the series for an eleventh season back in May 2020, much to fans’ enthusiasm.
The show’s tenth season was well-received but concerns of future cancellation arose when Paramount Network announced they would no longer air the hit show Cops.
Nevertheless, there is no reason to believe that Blue Bloods season 11 won’t still be given the go-ahead. However, we may have a long wait considering the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on film and television production, which is essentially still at a standstill.
We’re sure it will be worth the wait.
Tom Selleck talks Blue Bloods future
Back at the start of May 2020, Country Living reported that one of the show’s stars – Tom Selleck – believes there’s so much more to say.
Opening up about his thoughts on its future, he expressed:
“I don’t think there is an end point. I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older… There is an evolution. It started out as a character-driven show and it’s even more than that now. When you get to a point like this, and we certainly had it on [Magnum P.I.], the audience is really inside the main characters’ heads.”
Additionally, he said of the cast: “We do the work, and we do it well, but we’re also screwing around and catching up. What we have is truly a blessing.”
It’s likely he’s still just as confident about its return, but fans aren’t totally convinced…
Fans are still worried
Due to the current emphasis on tackling police brutality and the cancellation of Cops, some fans feel like police procedurals may be under threat.
A number of the show’s fans have taken to Twitter to offer their thoughts.
