Liverpool fans might’ve been hoping that Jurgen Klopp was watching Italian football last night.

That’s because one of the Reds’ reported transfer targets had an absolute stormer.

Kalidou Koulibaly produced a barnstorming centre-back performance as Napoli drew 1-1 with Inter Milan on their return to competitive football.

The towering Senegal defender has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, so much so that Le 10 Sport reported in April that the club were in talks to bring him to Anfield.

Here’s how a lot of neutral fans reacted to his performance on Twitter last night:

Can Liverpool afford him? Well, that’s another matter altogether.

Despite turning 29 in six days, the Italian outfit reportedly want an eye-watering £89 million for the big man [Le 10 Sport] and, in this climate, it’s a hell of a lot more money now than it was in January, for example.

One thing is for sure though: Klopp would have probably the best defence in Europe – if he hasn’t already – if he’s able to pair Koulibaly and Virgil van Dijk together.
