Leeds United aren’t in the Premier League yet, but it looks like the club are already preparing for top-flight football by swooping for a Tottenham Hotspur player.
El Dia reported last week that Juan Foyth was ‘practically’ finished at Spurs and the report cited Marcelo Bielsa’s desire to bring him to Elland Road.
And now according to Clarin, Foyth, an £8 milion signing by Tottenham in 2017 [The Daily Mail], is set to join the Championship leaders on loan for the 2020-21 campaign.
The 22-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for the North Londoners in 2020 as of yet and Jose Mourinho doesn’t look to have much plan to use him.
Despite being only 22, Foyth is a very experienced player and already has 10 caps for Argentina.
Leeds have a seven-point cushion in the automatic promotion places with nine games to go, the first of which is set to take place away at Cardiff City on June 21.
This could be a cracking addition by United, given the centre-back’s promise, but it might suggest that a permanent deal for Ben White might not be pursued.
If and when Bielsa’s side do go up, they’ll need a lot more than just one centre-back because, with White only being on loan, and Gaetano Berardi out of contract soon, Liam Cooper might be the club’s only recognised central defender in the near future.
