RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann spoke to Goal about Timo Werner’s future beyond the end of this season.
The German striker has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season. Everyone expected Werner to move to Liverpool this summer but that no longer seems to be the case.
Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea have reportedly beaten the Reds for his signature and a deal is expected to be completed in the coming days. (Guardian)
Nagelsmann, clearly disappointed about Werner’s expected departure, admitted that it will not be possible to replace the German’s goals through just one player.
He said: “It’s not possible [to replace him], you can’t clone a player. If Timo Werner leaves us, the main thing would be to replace 34 goals a season.”
“That would be the main task, which perhaps could not be solved by just one player. It is important that we get the same output at the end of the day, that is the complex thing about the topic.”

Leipzig will certainly struggle to replace Werner, even with the big money that they will recieve for him.
That also means that Liverpool will find it just as difficult to find a player who will come in and do a job as good as, if not better, than Werner potentially will at Chelsea next season.
Jurgen Klopp’s decision to pass on Werner could come back to bite him. The Leipzig man, still only 24, has the quality to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League which will help Chelsea become serious contenders for the title alongside the Reds.
