Christian Marques has been given his chance to impress with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ first-team squad as ‘Project Re-start’ edges closer and, speaking to the club’s website, the 17-year-old admits it is a ‘nice experience’.

The youngest player ever to captain Wolves’ U23 side, this Swiss centre-back is perhaps the biggest talent amongst an exciting crop of youngsters at Molineux.

Marques has been turning heads behind the scenes ever since moving to England from Zurich last summer.

And, after wearing the armband with pride at Premier League 2 level, the teenager could now be in line for a senior bow.

He has been testing himself against the likes of Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota in the last few days and, as you might expect, Marques is determined to seize such an opportunity with both hands.

“Now I have come back to train with the first-team every day. I’ve been with them every day, spending time with them, and it’s a really nice experience for me as I’ve never had that before,” Marques says.

“(Nuno) is a good manager. I like him because if he sees something you are doing wrong or something, he straight comes to you and tells you what you have to do.

“Last week in a training session, I was in the wrong position, so he came straight to me and told me. So, the next time I did it, I had it correct and won the ball.

“When we’re playing games in training, he’s just watching what we’re doing and he talks about the games, what we have to improve. I like it a lot.”

Nuno has a superb track record when it comes to improving young players, with Ruben Neves, Ruben Vinagre, Adama Traore, Jota and more going from strength to strength under the former Porto boss in the Black Country.

And with Wolves sitting pretty in the top half of the Premier League table, Nuno may be tempted to reward some of his most promising teenagers with a first-team opportunity over the next few weeks.
