Everton and Arsenal would have to cough up £120,000-a-week if they want to sign Adrien Rabiot with TMW reporting that the Juventus midfielder is unlikely to accept a wage cut at his new club.
Once again, speculation is rife that a man who spent a very brief spell in Manchester City’s academy in the pre-Sheikh Mansour days could be packing his bags and heading back to England – hopefully for a slightly longer stay this time around.
Just a year after parting ways with Paris Saint-Germain in acrimonious circumstances, a midfielder who appears to court controversy wherever he goes is back in the gossip columns.
After all, Rabiot’s debut season at Juventus has not exactly been a roaring success.
And there is talk over in Italy that the 25-year-old, who missed out on a place in France’s World Cup-winning squad after infuriating Didier Deschamps, is unhappy with his current surroundings once again.
The red flags are waving and the alarm bells ringing, then, with Everton and Arsenal apparently interested in offering Rabiot yet another fresh start.
TWM are now putting more meat on the bones, pointing out that the 6ft 4ins powerhouse would not just be a risk but a very expensive one too.
He currently earns around £6 million-a-year plus bonuses in Turin and woe betide any club who plans to offer him less than that when negotiations get going.
Ability-wise, there are few midfielders in Europe who can match Rabiot’s jaw-dropping blend of tenacity and technique. But, at the age of just 25, he already has more baggage than most of us would accumulate in a lifetime.
