According to the Daily Star, Marseille have offered a five-year deal to Tottenham Hotspur target M’Baye Niang – and he’s being offered around Europe.
It’s claimed that Marseille are desperate to land Niang. They have allegedly communicated to Niang that they will hand him a five-year deal if he makes the move.
That will be appealing to Niang, but he is allegedly being offered to a number of clubs around Europe as Rennes look to make a sale.
Brighton and Hove Albion appear to be backing away but have at least asked to be kept informed about Niang’s situation.
L’Equipe note that Tottenham have been in contact with Niang’s representatives, with Jose Mourinho keen to bring him back to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old spent time on loan at Watford in 2017, but has really started to fulfil his potential with Rennes, hitting 29 goals in 80 games.
15 of those goals came this season, with the Senegalese international thriving at Rennes. His ability to play up front or out wide may be appealing to Spurs, but Marseille appear to be going in strong for him – and that leaves Tottenham trailing Andre Villas-Boas.
A fee of around £15million is allegedly needed for Niang, but with Spurs unsure of their budget as they bid for Champions League football, they may not be in a position to pay up right now.
