According to the Liverpool Echo, Naby Keita scored scored in an 11 v 11 game during Liverpool training on Monday.
The Reds trained at Anfield ahead of the Premier League’s return, and Jurgen Klopp was able tow watch an 11 v 11 game which featured ‘different match scenarios’.
Sadio Mane and Naby Keita were on the scoresheet, with Klopp no doubt delighted to see the latter bag a goal.
Keita has been through regular injury and fitness problems at Liverpool, failing to really live up to his billing since his move from RB Leipzig.
The Guinean talent will hope this goal sparks a strong comeback when the Premier League returns, having shown signs of his quality before the lockdown.
There were also run-outs for Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi, whilst five teenagers were also involved in this 11 v 11 clash.
Neco Williams, Ki-Jana Hoever, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Yasser Larouci all featured, with the young talents given a chance to shine in front of Klopp.
Here are the two teams that took part according to the Echo…
Alisson; Williams, Hoever, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Keita, Jones; Elliott, Mane, Firmino.
Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Lovren, Larouci; Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner; Salah, Minamino, Origi.
Klopp mixed up his usual first team with some of his fringe and young players, with Monday’s game no doubt an important step towards Liverpool’s return to the Premier League – but those young players and Keita may have got more out of it than many.
