Have you used fairy comments on TikTok? If not, here’s what they mean and how to use them.

TikTok has become the go-to place for choreographed dance challenges, pranks and filters among the millennial generation.

And while those challenges provide pretty hilarious content, comments left under videos can be equally fun and entertaining.

So, what are the fairy comments on TikTok? Here’s one of the latest trends on the social media app explained.

TikTok: What are fairy comments?

Fairy comments are sort of mean messages that you leave under someone’s post on TikTok.

They start out with sweet and appreciative words, alongside heart, fairy or star emojis, but then they take an unexpected turn with a series of puns, jokes and mean comments.

For instance, someone might say: “Omg, you’re so confident,” which is quickly followed up by: “You shouldn’t be though.” Ouch. That’s brutal.

And there are plenty of variations of fairy comments, you just have to be creative (and a little bit mean) to come up with your own ones.

Who started the fairy comments?

It’s uknown who initiated the trend on TikTok.

However, according to social media user Tiffany Zhong (via Distractify), one of the first fairy comments dates back to April 10th, 2020.

Someone wrote at the time: “Hey idk if ur gonna see this but my aunt works for a talent/modeling company and I just told her about you she also said no tho.”

Therefore, we can assume that the trend gained popularity after this first fairy comment.

Best fairy comments

The trend is very popular among Twitter users as well.

In fact, if you search for ‘fairy comments’ on the app, you’ll come across a couple of accounts that share hilarious fairy comments.

One of our favourite ones is: “Omg, your confidence is glowing [followed by emojis], lower the brightness.”

Meanwhile, be aware that while some of them are meant to be jokes, you may find others upsetting.
