San Lorenzo striker Adolfo Gaich could be sold for less than his £12 million release clause, agent Pablo Caro has told Calciomercato of the reported West Bromwich Albion target.
Considering that he stands at 6ft 3ins, it would be fair to assume that player nicknamed ‘The Tank’ back home in his native Argentina is a little different to the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paulo Dybala and Carlos Tevez.
An old-school giant of a centre-forward, Gaich certainly doesn’t have much in common with the usual Albiceleste forward. But despite the tendency for clubs to gravitate towards skilful, diminutive attackers in the modern era, the rangy 21-year-old is not short of suitors.
Gaich has been linked with European giants such as PSG, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Monaco. So it’s fair to say West Brom have a mountain to climb if they want to lure the South American hitman to the Hawthorns, as reported by TYC Sport.
The Baggies surely need Premier League football if they are to win the race for an in-demand number nine. Though Caro did have some good news for the Midland giants as he discussed his client’s future over the weekend.
“(The release clause) is £12 million. But he could be purchased for less,” Caro says.

Blessed with a towering stature and the ability to hold off defenders with ease, comparisons have been drawn between Gaich and one of the world’s hottest strikers back home.
In the eyes of Argentina U20 coach Fernando Batista, there are a few similarities with Bayern Munich talisman Robert Lewandowski.
“Gaich has some of Lewandowski’s characteristic,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “He has a similar physique, in how he uses his body, how he holds the ball.
“I am not surprised that Barcelona is looking at Adolfo as a future project.”
