It’s claimed that PSG want Marusic as a replacement for Thomas Meunier. The Belgian will leave PSG when his contract expires this summer.
That means PSG need to find a successor, and whilst a number of names have been linked, it’s now Marusic being touted for a move to the French capital.
A fee of €15million would allegedly be needed to sign Marusic, but PSG aren’t alone. The reports state that Everton have now joined the race.
Carlo Ancelotti may be in the market for a new right back this summer. Seamus Coleman has been a superb servant, but Djibril Sidibe’s loan expires this summer and Jonjoe Kenny may yet leave permanently.
Marusic therefore fits the bill. The 27-year-old has hit two goals in 10 games for Lazio this season, with his total now standing at seven goals and six assists in 83 games.
He has mostly split time with Manuel Lazzari at right wing back. It now seems that Lazio are willing to sell the Montenegrin international, with just £13.5million needed.
Ancelotti should be attracted by Marusic’s ability to play at right back and on the right of midfield, as he used Sidibe in both roles. He will have to fight former club PSG for Marusic though, in what could be a difficult battle.
