Lille striker Victor Osimhen has become a wanted man, with four Premier League teams believed to be in the hunt for his signature.
The Nigerian hitman joined Lille from Charleroi last summer, and has quickly become a sensation in French football after a strong first season.
Osimhen has hit 13 goals and four assists in 27 Ligue 1 games this season. With another five goals in other competitions, it’s been a superb campaign for him.
Osimhen’s agent Ariyo Igbayilola spoke to The Cable about Osimhen’s future, claiming that Newcastle United are keen in the event of a takeover, and whilst Tottenham want him, he won’t join if Harry Kane stays.
Just a year after selling Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal, Lille could make another big sale to an English club this summer. Now, Lille owner Gerard Lopez has spoken to the Daily Mail about the situation.
Lopez claims there are ‘multiple offers’ for Osimhen right now. Two bids were turned down in January, and teams from three countries – likely England, Italy and Spain – are in the race.
Lopez claims there are big numbers being discussed for Osimhen despite the global pandemic, which may well rule out all English sides except Newcastle, as long as they’re taken over.
“There are multiple offers,” said Lopez. “We turned down one English and one Spanish offer this January transfer window. There is a wide array [this summer] and I wouldn’t want to give the names of the clubs who are bidding but what I can tell you is that there are multiple [offers]. There are three championships that have clubs that have bid for him.”
“I am not being a sales guy because last year people didn’t believe that we had the offers we had with [Nicolas] Pepe and it turns out we had multiple of them. Let me tell you with Osimhen, it is the same thing, whatever number you heard, the high number I have read is very much on the money of the offers that we have received. That’s where we are,” he added.
