Just two weeks ago, popular American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine took to Instagram Live to speak about his prison sentence.

Two million people tuned in to watch him on the social media app, which broke the record for the most-viewed Instagram Live ever!

And now, the record has been broken yet again. Tekashi 6ix9ine no longer holds the title, and instead it has been given to television icon Acun Ilicali who broke the record in Turkey last night.

The new Instagram Live record exceeded the old one by a huge 1 million views!

But who actually is Acun Ilicali and why did he break the record?

Who is Acun Ilicali?

Ali Icun Ilicali is a Turkish television icon, TV producer, entrepreneur and businessman.

In Turkey, he owns two of the biggest television channels TV8 and TV8.5.

The fifty-year-old from Edime began his career as a sports reporter and then branched into television.

Acun Ilicali breaks the Instagram live record!

Just weeks ago, American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine stole the Instagram Live record from Drake after he broadcast to 2 million people.

But now, that record has been broken yet again by Acun Ilicali on his Instagram account @acunilicali, receiving a huge 3 million views on his Live which breaks the old record by a long way.

The record was broken due to the Turkish TV show Survivor 2020.

The American show, which aired its 79th episode in Turkey last night sees reality TV stars from around the world compete in two camps to win.

Last night, the two camps played for immunity. Then, the much awaited date that the two camps would be united as one team was revealed by the island council, which was broadcast live on Instagram and broke the live record.

The show is like the Turkish version of I’m A Celebrity, seeing celebrities involved in tasks in order to survive on an Island.
