Liam Cooper has told Leeds Live that he was surprised at the standard of Leeds United’s training session yesterday.
Leeds returned to training recently, after a long break with the season suspended.
The Whites have already announced that they want the season to restart, even though they would be promoted if it was curtailed early.
And Leeds’ players appear to have picked up where they left off, as they have been in very good form on the training ground.
“I was quite surprised at the standard considering the lads haven’t been able to do technical work for a while,” Cooper said.
“The delivery was good, the passing was good and the lads have come back in unbelievable shape.
“The fitness coaches are surprised at how good a shape we’ve come back in. We’ve not stopped. All the lads have bought into it.
“We’re raring to go and in a good place to be able to start off with the tactical side as opposed to getting fitness again because we’ve maintained that throughout this period.”
Leeds are currently seven points clear inside the automatic promotion spaces, so they are well placed to go on and achieve promotion.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were in excellent form before the break, and they will be desperate to keep up their momentum when competitive football returns.
The Championship clubs are expected to vote to finish the season on the pitch, with June 20th said to be the date that they are aiming for matches to return by Leeds Live.
